Collaborative Law
Collaborative Law is a new way to resolve divorce and family disputes.
Lawyers and their clients agree to reach divorce settlement without court involvement. They work together to resolve child and financial issues and may enlist other experts such as a relationship therapist or child psycholgist as part of the team. Cost and conflict are minimised for the separating couple. Key decisions about the future and welfare of any children are made all together, face to face in the same room.
Clients agree not to go to court. If the process breaks down collaborative lawyers are disqualified from reperesenting their clients in court. This means the lawyers are absolutely committed to the process of helping the separating couple to find the best solutions by agreement rather than conflict.
I trained with Cambridge Collaborative Law Practice as a counsellor/coach. I have worked extensively with separating couples.
